Russ Harper and his wife Marcia live in Lewisville, NC and have been conveners for many years. They have won 7 Best Clan Tent Awards. Through his work as a board member of COSCA (Council of Scottish Clans and Associations,) he was invited to the "Clan Convention" held at the Scottish Parliament as part of "The Homecoming 2009," and participated in discussions on the role of the Clan in the 21st Century. Russ is a frequent contributor to the Clan Wallace Rewards program and is currently at the Circle of the Saltire level. He is also a frequent contributor to our newsletter. Welcome Russ!!
Ron Heacock and his wife Terri live in Fairview, NC. They have also been conveners for many years and recipients of Best Clan Tent. Ron states that "one of my greatest thrills lately has been the Clan Gathering in Williamsburg, VA. Normally at Highland Games unless they are very large you may see 8 or 10 other Wallaces in a parade of tartans, but when the Wallaces took the field in Williamsburg it was almost electric seeing all of the red plaid! A sight I won't forget for a long time." Welcome Ron!

David R. Ross
1958 ~ 2010Many of our members knew David, had seen him at Games/Festivals and have talked with him about "Braveheart", Scotland and its War of Independence which involved both Sir William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. David's enthusiasm for Scotland, its independance, its historic period and historic figures will be missed by all of us.

Trees for The Teaghlach WoodThe Clan Wallace Society continues it's charitable works as directed in our Charter. The CWS has planted ten(10) historically native, Scottish trees in The Teaghlach Wood, near Comrie in Highland Perthshire, Scotland. The tree plantings are part of the Trees 4 Scotland project to restore the great forests to Scotland. The UK only has about 12% forest land compared to Europe's 32%.
Check out the home page of The Teaghlach Wood and notice "The Wallace Men of the Lonach Highlanders" marching along the lane. Also, click on the The Teaghlach Wood Certificate received in the name of the "Clan Wallace Society Founders and Members."

William Wallace's Crawford ConnectionC. Joanne Crawford, Ph.D., Vice President, Clan Crawford Association, has written a very interesting paper on the connections between William Wallace and the Crawfords. This article was published in a recent Clan Crawford Newsletter. We thought Clan Wallace members should know this part of the Wallace history.
